World Soccer Rankings
The world soccer rankings are a ranking system of the men’s national teams in Football. This ranking is currently led by Brazil who got the number one spot and has been ranked first for the longest time. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the premier international football association and the world governing body of football ranks its member nations based on the results of the games. Countries like Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have maintained their ranks at the top spots but Brazil is the one that has spent the longest time being ranked first.
World soccer rankings You can view the full list of the world soccer rankings by accessing this website: http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/lastranking/gender=m/fullranking.html. This site lists the latest world rankings of the men’s national teams of FIFA member nations. A points system is said to be used where points are being awarded based on the results of international games that are recognized by the FIFA. Factors like the match result, match status, opposition strength, and regional strength are all taken into account in the point system of the world soccer rankings. Matches from the previous four years are also considered in the computation of the rankings but the more recent ones are given more weight. It is however important to make sure that the rankings are a representative of the performance of the different national teams despite many differing factors among them.
The world soccer rankings are used by FIFA to measure and rank the abilities of its different member nations as a part of the calculation in grouping the countries into groups for the seed competitions in the quadrennial FIFA World Cup. These rankings are also used to determine the winners of two awards that are given annually to the national teams with the best ranking performance.
